Life.....

It's been a while since I've posted, life just gets in the way sometimes!! I've finally bought a new pair of runners, my last ones went 1100kms...I got used to the feel of them, but as soon as I put the new ones on, it was like floating on pillows of air....I reminded myself to keep this feeling with me, so then next time I would get new ones sooner!!!!
What I've been doing could hardly be perceived as training, however I am doing the Adelaide Half Marathon when I go home....was hoping to go under 2 hours but now I'll be happy with a 2 hour finish...between visitors, and cake decorating.....the training has suffered. Could hardly say to my daughter, of sorry i didn't get to finish your cake, I was out running!!!
Anyway, just thought I'd make an appearance before I head to the other side of the world for 2 months!!
Keep logging those miles!!

2010 Childrun

This past Sunday I was very lucky to be one of around 6000 people that took part in the annual BC Childrens Hospital Childrun. This particular run has been going for 25 years and raises money for the BC Childrens Hospital Foundation. This year the childrun raised over 1 million dollars!! Absolutely AMAZING....at the same time the Miracle Weekend telethon was also held raising around 16.5 million dollars.....The weekend was a little bittersweet for us, the hospital system failed us as it has failed many, but at the same time is able to help so many other families, the more money raised, the more services that are available, more research etc etc, so big picture, it's all worth it. I was fortunate to be part of a team this year..(refer to photo), and look forward to doing it again next year. Amber will most likely run it with me next time :-).....All I could think of as I ran those 5km was how many children were sitting in that hospital, how many parents by their beds, and of all the children not yet born that will find that hospital their home for a period of time. It was the quickest 26 mins of my life!!!

Exciting Stuff!!

I've decided to run the Adelaide Half Marathon when I go home in a few weeks time....as always entering a race is exciting, but this one a little more so for me...It's in my home town!!! I haven't been home for a few years so that also makes it extra wonderful :-) It's most likely going to be the last half marathon for me before I move up to longer distances...fingers crossed it goes a little better than the last one did...oh and I'm going to ask for dry weather too :-)!! LOL....
A big shout out to my Mum...she's paying the entry fee for me...!! XOXOXO

Middle of the 3rd Week....

It's Thursday of the 3rd week, and all I can say is man alive my body is making it hard for me, it really doesn't want to let go of the last few pounds!!! Granted results prob would have been better had I skipped out on the alcohol last weekend, but..thats the way it goes!!
I'm having wonderful results with the couple of friends I'm helping out at the gym too..so to them I say well done and keep it up xoxo
Run day today 10kms, so burn baby burn I say :-)

2nd Week In...

Well today marks the beginning of the second week of whats going to be an interesting workout month....4 weeks, 7 days a week, Weights, Cardio and Plyometrics...coupled with an inspiring Clean Eating Regime...yes there is a hint of sarcasm in those last few words...but with 9lbs I still want to lose...there are just some things you have to do. The words that came to me during the last half marathon when I was wiping away some sort stinking mixture of breakfast and gels was SUCK IT UP PRINCESS!!!! I do have to admit...my breakfast yesterday (Mother's Day)...was as far from, my normal breakfast as it gets. I have to admit it was SO good, however I was happy to be back to my eggs whites/oatmeal/blueberries this morning.
BRING IT ON.........

Thought of the Week....

"Don't fear fear....put it to work"

Wow what a Run....

Rain,Rain go away!! Pretty much the thought of the day.
BMO Vancouver Half Marathon today..and yes it started raining as soon as we were lining up to head off...GO FIGURE!!!
Didn't have the best day....still getting over whatever it was that made me sick..so preceded to throw up twice..thank goodness for aid stations..the Gatorade made the gross taste go away..so the Mantra for the rest of the race was "One foot in front of the other"!!! Thanks Dean I'm using it!! And it seemed to work.
PB for me...wonder what is next on the list!

Package Pick Up Tomorrow..Race Sunday!!!

Well the time has come...I've been watching the weather this week and it's not looking favorable..not much I can do about it though.
Pick up my goodies tomorrow, go for one round of the course..in the car..then have an early night!!
Bagel and banana for breakfast I think..thats what I ended up with when I did the Half in Kelowna...the place we were staying well they didn't have Oatmeal on the Room Service Menu...So $13 later I got a bagel and banana!! Highway Robbery!!
Wish me luck, few things not working for me however just more of a challenge!!
Bring on Sunday :-)

Thought of the week....

Race Day can be full of excitement, expectations (mainly from ourselves),and yes nerves...stay focused and remember...it's you against the clock..not you against the person in front of you..who's been running for 20 years (to your 1 )....

Not long to go now!!

Well its about 2 weeks to race day....Heading out this afternoon for my last long run...perfect day out there, so hope all goes well!!
No doubt the nerves will start to set in shortly..Usually do. Going to focus on Yoga next week to get myself in the right mind frame. Then enjoy the day.....

QUOTE OF THE WEEK.....

Before you make a choice ask yourself,is this going to take me closer to, or further away from my Goal..Anon

Running to Me is.......

What started out as a diversion turned into something I enjoy for the essence of what it is about....the whole point to the experience of running is to be out on the trail..or road, just you and your surroundings, it's an opportunity to tune in..or out, depending on the day..an opportunity to see what you are really made of..to test your limits..some days they really are tested!! To be yourself..not a mum/dad,an employee,a husband or wife. It's downtime from life...
Yes I know so is sitting at the pub drink in hand...but there is nothing quite like the feeling you get once you've completed your run.!!
So enjoy your time out there..make the most of it..never take it for granted..Run because you can.
